iPlant Research Subject Request

Requests for Using iPlant as a Subject of Research

Researchers interested in using iPlant, or some aspect of it, as the subject of research should submit a written request to the Project Director of the iPlant Collaborative.  Please document the following details in your request:

1. A statement of the research objective and/or research question(s) being posed.

2. A discussion of the data collection methods, including (but not limited to):

a. Description of data you wish to collect. Please provide as much detail as possible.
b. Details of your data collection procedure including a timeline over which the data will be collected.
c. Description of resources you will require from iPlant   (in terms of time commitment, access to personnel, etc.). Please note that iPlant will not provide any funding for your data collection.

3.  Describe the benefits of your study to the iPlant collaborative, i.e. explain why iPlant should consider your request and participate in your research study.

The document detailing your request should be restricted to two pages. Please submit your request electronically to the iPlant Collaborative Special Assistant, Vicki Bryan at vbryan@iplantcollaborative.org.  All requests should be submitted at least three weeks prior to any funding submission deadlines.  The fundamental perspective of the iPlant Collaborative is that it is by, for, and of the community.  To  that end, iPlant has adopted an open-source philosophy. Thus, as part of an agreement to use iPlant as a subject of research, we request a copy of any data collected associated with iPlant.
